While working at ConnectedSign I had the pleasure to work with Akron Children’s Hospital’s team to work on their new interactive Doggie Brigade kiosks. The goal of the kiosk was to modernize their Doggie Brigade wall and honor the dogs, and mini horse, who have been part of the hospitals history. My role was as the lead designer on the project and my tasks were to take their kiosk designs and make them into a fully functional interactive kiosk.
Problem Statement
Akron Children’s Hospital aimed to modernize its Doggie Brigade section by transforming it into an interactive directory. The proposed directory would showcase detailed information on each dog, a comprehensive photo library, and the history of the Doggie Brigade. Additionally, it would include a feature for displaying doggie trading cards and a kid friendly section where children can leave emojis for their favorite dogs. The new kiosks would need to have an easy-to update and user-friendly database, enabling staff to manage content efficiently on the backend.
Solution
At ConnectedSign we collaborated with Akron Children’s Hospital to develop a digital signage solution that effectively met the hospital's needs.
The home screen features rotating backgrounds and images of the dogs, with easy navigation buttons leading to the dog directory, brigade history, and trading cards. Users can also click on the image of the currently displayed dog to access its individual page, which includes detailed information, a photo library, and a section where children can leave emojis for their favorite dogs.
The Doggie Brigade legacy page showcases the rich history of the brigade, providing guests with an engaging narrative.
The trading cards page allows guests to view each dog's trading card, with the option to navigate to the dog’s individual page for more information.
On the backend, a robust system was developed to house all the information, making it easy for staff to update and maintain. This solution ensures a user-friendly environment for both guests and hospital staff.
